Dr. Martin Luther King was the epitome of a dreamer. He saw the mountain top, when colored folk weren’t allowed to step foot on a hill.
One of my favorite quotes by him, “The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands in moments of challenge and controversy.”
Through racial slurs and constant hostility and brutality he dreamed. His eyes were fixed on the prize, his mind on the task at hand and nothing was getting in his way. He had a dream for all of us to live in peace and harmony. That all people be givin equal opportunity to pursue that which they please.
To be free to be!
Of course the world is still filled with racial hate. Theres plenty of ground to cover there. But just like Mr. King dreamt, we can climb the highest mountain, step foot in any public restroom.
He help lay the bricks for the ever building road.
It’s up to us to keep dreaming for a better tomorrow and collecting those bricks to lay for the next generation.
We can pursue our dreams in moments of challenge and controversy. The dream lives!
